Make Spooky Season Less Scary: Microchip Your Dog

Did you know: Pets are most likely to go missing on or around the 4th of July and Halloween. All it takes is a loud noise or an unwieldy group of kids at your door for your dog to slip out and go on his own Halloween adventure. Make your spooky season less scary and anxious, and look into microchipping your dog.

According to Caring Hearts Animal Hospital, "a microchip is a tiny device, no bigger than a grain of rice that emits a unique ID number when a microchip scanner is held over it. This number corresponds to your contact information in the microchip company’s online database. It is important that you remember to keep the information up to date regarding your phone number, address, as well as any change of ownership."

When pets go missing and are brought to shelters, police departments or animal control, these entities scan your pet with a microchip scanner and can easily contact you after obtaining the information from the chip.
